This Reviews Policy governs all editorial reviews published on RegionalReport.co.uk. Reviews are assigned by the editorial team and reflect the independent judgment of the named reviewer. The policy is overseen by the Editor-in-Chief, Margaret Ellison, and the Standards & Fact-Checking Lead, Oliver Reeves, who ensure compliance with our editorial standards. RegionalReport.co.uk is operated by Regional Report Media Ltd., a private limited company registered in England and Wales (company number 17143892), with its registered office at 3 New Bailey Street, 5th Floor, Manchester M3 5FS, United Kingdom. This disclosure is part of our commitment to transparency; further ownership and funding information can be found in our Ownership & Funding policy.
How we conduct reviews
Our reviews cover a wide range of subjects relevant to regional life in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, including cultural venues, festivals, local businesses, restaurants, theatre productions, sporting events, and public services. Reviews may be based on:
- Unannounced visits by our reviewers, where we purchase tickets or services as ordinary members of the public.
- Invited attendance at press previews, media nights, or hosted experiences, where the reviewer receives complimentary access or review tickets.
- Product testing arranged through the manufacturer, retailer, or a public relations agency, with items provided on loan or as samples.
- Event attendance facilitated by organisers, including press accreditation for conferences, launches, or community festivals.
In all cases, access to a review opportunity is accepted on the explicit understanding that it does not guarantee a positive assessment. Our reviewers are instructed to report their findings accurately and without regard to the source of access. No payment, discount, or other inducement is accepted in exchange for coverage. Detailed editorial principles are set out in our Editorial Policy.
Disclosure and transparency
Each review includes a clear disclosure statement indicating how the reviewer accessed the subject. The disclosure is placed at the end of the article or, in the case of sponsored or commercially arranged reviews, prominently at the top. Typical disclosure language reads: “The reviewer attended this event/visited this venue as a guest of the organiser/owner. This did not influence the editorial content.” Where a reviewer has received a product for testing, the disclosure states: “The product was provided free of charge for review purposes. No payment was received and all opinions are the reviewer’s own.”
Reviews that involve any form of commercial partnership, advertising, or affiliate relationship are additionally labelled in accordance with our Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure. Sponsored reviews are clearly marked as such and are subject to the same editorial oversight as all other content. We do not publish paid-for positive reviews under any circumstances.
Editorial independence and conflicts
All reviews are produced by our in-house team or by vetted freelance contributors. The managing editor, Henry Wallace, assigns reviews based on expertise and familiarity with the subject matter. Reviewers must declare any personal or financial interest in the subject of a review before an assignment is accepted. If a conflict exists, the reviewer is recused and another writer is assigned. The editorial team retains full control over the final published text, including headlines and ratings. No advertiser, sponsor, or subject of a review has the right to approve, edit, or veto content before publication.
Our fact-checking lead, Oliver Reeves, reviews any claims that may be contested or that involve sensitive allegations. Corrections to reviews are handled under our Corrections Policy and are published promptly. Readers who believe a review contains an error or unfair representation may contact our corrections team via our Contact page.
Scope and limitations

Individual experiences may vary, and we encourage readers to exercise their own judgment. Where reviews discuss health, safety, or accessibility matters, we rely on publicly available information and the reviewer’s on-site observations; we do not guarantee the accuracy of third-party claims.
